What is NLP?
NLP is the practical and pragmatic study of what produces all forms of human
performance.
How is it possible to be mediocre?
In NLP we examine and analyse the ingredients of both excellent and mediocre
performance. We then provide ways of improving the mediocre performance or transferring
the skills of excellence to others.
The essence of NLP can be expressed in the question
How is it possible to be
mediocre - or outstanding?
Mediocre performance
If someone is performing in an 'idiotic' or ineffectual manner NLP can be applied to
discover what accounts for such behaviour
This exploration is done by observing and interviewing them and aims to establish
whether they have the skills, or the motivation, or the beliefs or the sense of self to
produce improved performance.
Once the source or sources of the difficulty are located the person can be coached in
improving performance. This coaching can be done in one-to-one executive coaching, in
'open workshops', or in training programmes designed to fulfil an identified objective.
Outstanding Performance
Our NLP training experiences will provide readily learned methods for improving
performance based on some 25 years experience in studying human excellence.
In essence NLP is
 |
a set of procedures for personal development and performance improvement. |
 |
a model of effective communication |
 |
a way of modelling - or developing a model of - human behaviour. |
 |
This unique approach to personal change and development combines |
 |
insight into how people think and behave |
 |
dynamic personal change techniques |
 |
advanced communication skills. |
Often referred to as the technology of the mind or the science of achievement, NLP
(Neuro-linguistic Programming) was first developed in the U.S. in the early 70's from
studying the thinking and behavioural skills used by particularly effective and successful
people.
It is now used internationally by millions of people throughout the world in such
diverse fields as business, education, therapy, the military and police, sport, and
personal development.
Not 'scientific'
NLP makes no claims to be scientific or to be based on studies that compare the average
behaviour of one group with the average behaviour of another. NLP is a model of what works
in individual performance.
It is based on the principle that if one person can do something then, given similar
physical characteristics, anyone else can learn to do the same by modelling and
integrating into their own repertoire the skills and attitude of the successful person.
While this principle may or may not be literally true it is a pretty positive starting
point and leads to some quite remarkable improvements in personal performance.
Apply NLP in your own life
NLP enables you to do whatever you already do reasonably well, even better. And to
acquire skills and attitudes to do what you currently cannot do, but would like to be able
to do.
What they have said about NLP
Science Digest said that NLP 'could be the most important synthesis of
knowledge about human communications to emerge since the sixties.'
Time Magazine announced that 'NLP has untapped potentials for treating
individual problems.'
Training & Development Journal reported that NLP 'offers the
potential for making changes without the usual agony that accompanies these phenomena' and
that it 'allows for increasing options, flexibility, creativity and therefore greater
freedom of action than most of us know.'
Best-selling author and motivational speaker Anthony Robbins
said that
NLP is 'an incredibly effective and enjoyable way to access more of the true potential of
your brain.'
